Honoree of the conference

In 2019, we will celebrate the 100^th anniversary of the birth of Academician Bohuslav Cambel (1919–2006). As an outstanding geochemist he established modern analytical laboratories and enforced innovative methods and topics while serving as a director of the Geological Institute of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (1965–1990). He focused research on the genesis of granites and their metallogenetic aspects and on research into organic matter, with special emphasis on the Malé Karpaty Mts. Academician Bohuslav Cambel innovated and renamed the journal "Geologický sborník" transforming it into a truly international journal Geologický zborník – Geologica Carpathica. The dissemination of geoscience research in world languages under supervision of international editorial board at that time became the new publishing concept of the Geologica Carpathica and a base for further scientific growth of the journal.
