Every year, when compiling the annual report of the Institute, the three most important results of scientific research are published in the respective year within the publications in which the staff of the Earth Science Institute of the Slovak Academy of Sciences participated. This applies to publications in three categories: 1. Basic research, 2. Applied research, 3. International cooperation. According to the usual criteria – scientific papers published in English, in the first authorship of the staff of the institute and in scientific periodicals with high international significance and impact factor (IF) are assessed. In 2020, the Scientific Council assessed 46 articles published in impacted journals, of which 18 were primarily authored by an employee from the ESI SAS.
