The preparation laboratory for thin sections from rocks and minerals is equipped with highly versatile saws for cuttings of size 28 x 48 to 51 x 76 mm. Laboratory produces thin sections, pellets, as well as special oriented samples and thicker plates for the study of fluid inclusions. Lapping, polishing, and mounting of geological material is performed by equipment from Logitech and Struers which guarantees high-quality final specimens for further analytical procedures.
